JOMP Youth Orchestra (JYO)

‍JYO is an exciting orchestral experience for advanced string, woodwind, brass, and percussion players to enjoy making music together while enhancing their orchestral skills.

Rehearsals focus on developing musicianship and ensemble skills while refining interpretation, intonation, and sound in a supportive, collaborative environment. The orchestra presents two major concerts each season while also participating in special artistic projects and community collaborations.

Highlights from the 2026–27 season are expected to include standard orchestral repertoire alongside collaborative performance opportunities with community arts organizations. Plans currently being explored include a joint production with the Hanover Theatre featuring selected movements from Saint-Saëns' Carnival of the Animals. Additional repertoire and performance venues will be announced as the season is finalized.

Last season's highlights included a festive holiday concert featuring works by Mozart, Vaughan Williams, Holst, Leroy Anderson, and music from The Polar Express, as well as a special Orchestra Residency Week with world-renowned violinist Midori. Through her Orchestra Residencies Program (ORP), Midori led workshops and rehearsals focused on collaboration, community engagement, and artistic growth, culminating in a public performance with JYO.
