JOMP Music Scholars

Introducing the JOMP Music Scholars Program

At Joy of Music, we believe that every young musician deserves the opportunity to pursue their passion, develop their talents, and experience the transformative power of music. The JOMP Music Scholars Program is a new scholarship initiative designed to support dedicated middle and high school students who demonstrate exceptional commitment to musical growth and artistic excellence.

Made possible through grant funding, the program provides enhanced educational opportunities for students who are deeply engaged in music study and eager to take their musicianship to the next level. JOMP Music Scholars participate in a rich combination of private instruction, ensemble performance, mentorship, and community engagement, receiving three to six hours of weekly musical training through lessons, coachings, rehearsals, and classes.

Scholars are selected through an invitation-only process based on recommendations from JOMP faculty, staff, and educators at partner organizations. Scholars are active participants in JOMP’s musical community, studying privately with JOMP teachers while participating in one or more ensembles. Scholars receive full tuition scholarships for all ensemble participation.

The program is designed to offer a well-rounded musical experience. Scholars receive individualized instruction through private lessons, collaborate with peers in ensemble settings and accompanying, and gain exposure to the wider arts community through concert attendance and special performance opportunities. Throughout the year, students may also participate in master classes with guest artists, providing valuable insight and inspiration from professional musicians.

Beyond developing technical skills, the program encourages leadership, responsibility, and community involvement. Students may participate in volunteer opportunities, performance outreach, community service, and other special events that strengthen their connection to both the music community and the broader Worcester area.

As scholars grow and mature as musicians, additional opportunities may become available. Students who demonstrate sustained commitment and achievement may be considered for support to study a second instrument, further expanding their musical versatility.

JOMP Scholars are empowered to deepen their artistry and share their love of music with others as a part of this vibrant musical community.
