Luis Maldonado

Luis studied classical guitar at the Conservatorio de Música José Luis Paz and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Musicology from UNICA in Venezuela. His musical focus centers on plucked string instruments, including the ukulele, Venezuelan cuatro, Puerto Rican cuatro, Colombian tiple, seven-string guitar, cavaquinho, and related instruments. He has taught music in Venezuela, Panama, and the United States, and has performed with a wide range of ensembles, including big bands, flamenco groups, gypsy jazz ensembles, Latin jazz orchestras, and blues bands. In addition to his ensemble work, he maintains an active career as a solo guitarist. Luis joined Joy of Music in 2026.
