This course invites students to explore the correlation between sound and visual art and the infinite number of ways music can be represented visually. Participants will take part in interpreting graphic music notation, creating their own compositions, and performing music using non-traditional visual cues. Students will study samples of graphic music from the 20th and 21st centuries, including works by Cornelius Cardew, John Cage, Sol LeWitt, Gyorgy Ligetti, and other prominent composers and artists. Through hand-on activities, ensemble rehearsals, and group discussions, students will develop creative approaches to improvisation, composition, and ensemble communication.
Wednesday or Thursday after 5:00 PM
Classes will be formed by age groups and scheduled based on teacher & student availability.
