JOMP’s inclusive, community-centered mission showcases the potential and power of music to strengthen the health of the greater Worcester community. I am honored to be able to play a part in its mission.
I am classically trained in piano–since early childhood, it has been a major part of who I am. I still love practicing and performing and can personally attest to the benefits that music can have in anyone’s life.
I played Grieg’s Piano Concerto in A Minor with my college orchestra–which was a transformative experience. On a more practical level, the skills learned through music education–problem-solving, diligence, and mental flexibility–influence my thinking every day.
Tough question–so I’m gonna cheat! For pianists, either Alfred Brendel or Sviatoslav Richter. We’d play Schubert’s F-Minor Fantasy. Alternatively, I’d love to play Brahms’ second violin sonata with David Oistrakh.
JOMP is a really unique organization that is truly community-centered above all else. The access to high-level musical exposure and instruction that they provide is unparalleled, and the symbiosis between the community and its music school is the core of a healthy, happy partnership. I’m excited to be a part of JOMP’s board and can’t wait to contribute to its mission.
