Mary Casey is a K-12 certified music specialists with a focus on general music and chorus. She recently retired after 30 years from the Auburn Public School system, having taught preschool through grade eight, primarily at the intermediate level. Mrs. Casey is a graduate of Anna Maria College in Paxton, MA, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music Education as well a Masters plus 30 graduate credits in Fine Arts. In addition to Fine Arts, Mary obtained a Masters of Counseling Psychology from Anna Maria College in 1995, as well as Integration of Arts Across the Curriculum from Fitchburg State College, Fitchburg, MA.
Mrs. Casey has over 20 years experience with private lessons in piano and voice, and excels in working with students individually, as well as in groups and has a background in adaptive music for students with special needs. Casey has a wide variety of teaching skills in areas of choral, recorder, barred instruments, movement to music, piano keyboards, and percussive instruments. Music activities include playing instruments, dancing, ear-training exercises, singing, composing and performing.
Mrs. Casey has directed and produced programs to include seasonal and holiday concerts, all-school interdisciplinary programs, student concert performances at local senior centers, and musical field trips.
Mrs. Casey resides in Paxton, MA with her husband Bill. They have four children and four granddaughters. Casey’s hobby’s include yoga, swimming, health and fitness. Mary joined the Joy of Music Faculty in the fall of 2016.
