Jazz Listening and History

Explore the history of jazz!  Listen to some of the greatest jazz players.  Learn how this art form influenced pop and contemporary music of today.  Students will listen to five jazz pieces a week (Kenji will assign pieces from historical recordings on YouTube) and write short comments for discussion in class.  This course will appeal to jazz students who want to delve deeper into the music as well as non-jazz students who are interested in learning about this uniquely American art form.  No previous experience with jazz is required.

    Tuition: $144

    This class will meet for 1 hour from the week of February 1 through March 25 at Monday 4:00-5:00, Tuesday 8:00-9:00 or Thursday 8:00-9:00.  Please indicate on your registration form, which of those days and times you can make.
