Auditions are a regular part of life for any aspiring performer. Whether you want to sing in a choral ensemble, a musical, a collegiate performing arts program, or a professional performance opportunity, chances are you’ll have to audition. We’ll cover all aspects of the audition process including repertoire selection, stage presence/character development, preparing your music for an accompanist, writing a performance resume/biography, wardrobe tips, and more. Learn how to channel your nervous energy into excitement. Don't let fear of an audition hold you back from pursuing a potentially rewarding opportunity!
Participants should come prepared with 2 contrasting, fully memorized songs, approximately 1-2 minutes each in any of the following styles/genres: classical, musical theater, sacred, Great American Songbook/jazz standard, or pop. Make sure to bring sheet music for the accompanist in the correct key. Dress as you would for an actual audition.
