Maryanne Barnicle received a Bachelor of Music Degree in Piano Pedagogy as well as a Bachelor of Music Education Degree from The Hartt School of Music. She holds a Master of Education Degree in Arts Education and a Fine Arts Director Certificate from Fitchburg State University. She began teaching piano privately as a college student and has been teaching students of all ages for over 50 years.
For 25 years Mayanne taught music in the Canton Connecticut Public Schools, serving as K-12 Music Department Chair for 10 of those years. She was piano accompanist for recitals, choruses, musical theatre groups and Connecticut Regional and All-State Music Festivals and also served as organist for churches in Canton and Simsbury.
The Canton Chamber of Commerce also named Maryanne Educator of the Year in 1999. In 2003, she was named a Paul Harris Fellow by the Rotary Clubs International in Canton. She is listed in Who’s Who in American Education and Who’s Who of American Women. Maryanne joined the Joy of Music faculty in the fall of 2013.
