Mark Weissman has been a professional musician in the New England area for the past 25 years. In addition to receiving a Graduate Diploma from the New England Conservatory, he holds Music degrees from Westfield State College and UMASS Amherst. Mark has studied Saxophone/improvisation, and composition with Yuseff Lateef, Jerry Bergonzi, Hal Crook, Jeff Holmes, Ken Radnofsky, Ted Levine, and Lynn Klock.
From 2002-2016 Mark was enlisted in the United States Air Force as a Saxophonist. During his enlistment he had the opportunity to perform and record with numerous Jazz luminaries such as Marvin Stamm, Greg Hopkins, Gary Smulyan, Jane Monheit, Billy Pierce, and Phil Wilson. In addition to his performance responsibilities, Mark was chosen to musically direct the top Jazz ensemble at the world renowned Monterey Jazz Festival.
Currently, Mark is teaching band full time in the Tantasqua District, and performing in numerous ensembles around the New England area. He taught at Joy of Music from 2000 and 2002, before joining the Air Force band and rejoined JOMP’s faculty in 2017.
