We are offering in-person Jazz Ensembles. Students must wear masks with slits for their mouthpieces and bell covers for their instruments. Program will adhere to all Covid-safety policies and state regulations ~ Students will be distanced 6 feet apart.
Students will develop creative musical expression by learning to read chord symbols and jazz charts, and by building ear training, ensemble and rhythmic skills. The ensembles will explore jazz as an art form in a small group setting, with a focus on individual improvisation based on scales and harmonic centers. Students will experience the rich legacy of jazz styles from Blues and standards to Bebop, contemporary, Latin and original compositions.
Ensemble days and times will be arranged to enable the formation of compatible groups. The ensembles will meet for one hour a week. Please indicate your availability on the registration form. We will call you to discuss which group is best for you. All students must be taking private lessons. Students not taking private lessons at JOMP are welcome! Please call Rich Ardizzone 508-856-9541 to arrange for a placement audition.
