JOMP Youth Orchestra (JYO)

Currently Offered

JYO is being offered in small chamber groups online for now.  On Wednesday evenings, the groups will meet via Zoom to work in master class format on parts and video tape individually.  The videos will then be combined into a group performance for publishing on the internet. 

1st violins with Regie Pineda 6:30 to 7:30 pm
2nd violins with Regie Pineda 7:45 to 8:45 pm
cellos with Tim Terranella 6:30 to 8:30 pm
Flutes and Bassoon with Tim Terranella 7:45 to 8:45 pm
 
Clarinets and Oboes will meet with Nancy Ackerman to work on different wind repertoire until we can meet again in-person.  Day and time TBD.
 

JYO in-person is  on hold and will resume when we reopen the building.

The Online

The JOMP Youth Orchestra (JYO) is a vibrant and leading youth orchestra in the Worcester area. Each year, JYO brings talented and advanced young musicians together from all over Central Massachusetts.
                        
Students prepare two exciting programs a year for New Year's Eve at Joy of Music's new Shapiro Concert Hall and JOMP’s Annual Spring Gala at  Mechanics Hall.  Recent repertoire included works by J. S. Bach, Bartok, Beethoven, Bizet, Debussy, Dvorak, Elgar, Fauré, Haydn, Mozart and Schubert.  Rehearsals focus on developing musicianship and ensemble skills and refining interpretation, intonation and sound.  Sectionals are scheduled within the regular rehearsal time.  To schedule an audition, please call 508-856-9541.
