JOMP Youth Orchestra (JYO)
The JOMP Youth Orchestra (JYO), one of the leading youth orchestras in the Worcester area, was started by the school as the JOMP Chamber Orchestra in 1997 with 8 students and its current director, Tim Terranella. Last year, JYO brought together 32 enthusiastic young musicians from 16 cities and towns in Central Massachusetts.

JYO celebrates its 16th anniversary this season with two performances: First Night Worcester on 12/31/13 (venue TBD) and JOMP's Spring Gala at Mechanics Hall on Wednesday, May 21, 2014.
While most JYO members take their private instrumental lessons at Joy of Music with members of our faculty, we welcome students who are studying outside the school in all of our classical and jazz ensembles. An audition is required for students not studying at JOMP, so we can get to know your playing and make a placement that is a good match for you. JOMP has several levels of preparatory ensembles, in which students receive thorough training for the larger JOMP Youth Orchestra experience. Many current JYO members came up through these ensembles: JOMP Youth Sinfonietta (strings and woodwinds); JOMSE String Ensembles; Woodwind Ensemble and Brass Ensemble.
Auditions for the 2013/2014 season will be scheduled by appointment. Please call 508-856-9541 to set up an audition.
