Joy of Music String Ensembles

These ensembles, under the nurturing guidance of  Ralph Metcalf, offer young string players the exciting experience of playing in a small string ensemble.   Students will learn a wide variety of pieces by many composers and develop their ensemble skills, including balancing their sound, intonation and stylistic interpretation. Each group will give approximately four concerts in JOMP’s Recital Hall for their families and friends throughout the year, presenting  a new program each time.

STRING ENSEMBLE I (JOMSE)

In addition, JOMSE performs annually in Mechanics Hall as part of our Spring Gala (pictured right). 

Ralph gives our string ensemble students a superb preparation for orchestral and chamber music playing.  Most of the string players in the JOMP Youth Orchestra (JYO) received their early ensemble training from Ralph.
