Recorder is a wonderful first instrument that can bring joy for a lifetime. Students will be introduced to the basics of playing the soprano recorder. Classes will focus on learning to read music in the G clef, understanding basic rhythm and developing good tone, technique and tonguing. Students will build a repertoire of short pieces they will be able to play for enjoyment. Half-hour private lessons are also available for beginners.
Additional classes and ensembles for children and adults already playing the recorder will be formed as needed. Placements are made on the basis of age, level and teacher and student availability. We recommend private lessons if there are not enough students to form an appropriate group. There are wonderful duets at every level that teachers use to build ensemble skills.
