Maryanne Barnicle, earned a Bachelor of Music Degree in Piano Pedagogy and a Bachelor of Music Education Degree from the Hartt School of Music in West Hartford, Connecticut. She began teaching piano privately, with yearly recitals, as a college student; and has taught students of all ages for over 40 years.
She spent 25 years in Connecticut Public Schools teaching K-12 Vocal/General Music, Jr/Sr High School Class Piano/Music Technology, and High School Choral Music. She earned a Fine Arts Director Certificate and Master of Education Degree in Arts Education from Fitchburg State College, Fitchburg, MA while serving as the K-12 Music Department Chair in the Canton, CT Public Schools.
Maryanne spent many years as an accompanist for recitals, choruses, church choirs, musical theater groups and Regional/All-State Music Festivals. She also served as organist in St. Patrick Church in Canton, CT as well as St. Mary’s Church and the First Church of Christ, both in Simsbury, Connecticut.
In 2003, she was named a Paul Harris Fellow from the Rotary Clubs International, Canton, CT. The Canton (CT) Chamber of Commerce named her Educator of the Year in 1999. She is listed in Who’s Who in American Education, and Who’s Who of American Women. She joined the Joy of Music faculty in the fall of 2013.
