Jazz Ensembles Fiddle Groups Recorder Ensembles Improvisation Workshops
Our jazz, folk and classical ensemble programs provide a progressive series of groups that offer appropriate challenges for students at all levels of ensemble playing. All ensemble students must be taking private lessons. Ensembles provide an opportunity for students to expand their musical growth beyond their private lessons and to share music with their peers. They learn to blend with other instruments, listen to other parts, and apply the concepts of dynamics, phrasing and nuances as a group. Placements in all ensembles will be made based on age, level and readiness as recommended by a student's private teacher in consultation with the school’s directors and ensemble instructors. Regular attendance is required. Students not taking private lessons at JOMP re welcome, but must take a placement audition, so we can determine if we have a group that is a good match.
** Adults find that JOMP’s warm and supportive atmosphere makes the school an ideal place to study.
