Recorder Classes & Ensembles | Back to Programs

The recorder is a wonderful first instrument. It can serve as a performance instrument in its own right that can bring joy for a lifetime, or provide a good transition to another instrument. Recorder classes and ensembles are small (4 to 6 students) and will be grouped by age and experience. Private recorder lessons are also available.

*******************************************************************

Students will be introduced to the basics of recorder playing and learn about note values and reading music in the G clef. They will also discover the fun of learning a wide variety of pieces to play on their instrument.

Tutti Recorder Ensemble

Instructor: Marcia Anderson

Thursday 6:30 - 7:30 Tuition $550 ($275)

Upper intermediate to advanced players (able to play music at the level of Loeillet Sonatas) will explore Renaissance and Baroque recorder ensemble music. In addition to soprano recorder, participants must play or be learning at least one other member of the recorder family. Teacher recommendation required.

**************************************************************************************

** Additional Classes and Ensembles for children and adults already playing the recorder: Because our current recorder students represent a wide range of "ages and stages," class and ensemble placements will be made on the basis of age, level and teacher/student scheduling availability. We may recommend private lessons if there are not enough other students at your child’s (your) age and level to form an appropriate group. Recorder students who already play but are new to JOMP will need to play for one of our recorder teachers for placement in a class or ensemble. An audition is not necessary for enrollment in private lessons.
