Joy of Music Program

Mission Statement:

To foster community through accessible music education and performance.

Frog Point Fiddlers

Mission Statement

The Frog Point Fiddlers (originally FiddleKids of Worcester) seeks to preserve the rich and diverse tradition of fiddling among our youth. We are a musical performing group of children who enjoy "fiddling, fun, family and friends". Our success continues to rely on music appreciation in the home, a fun and supportive group environment and the community as our stage.

Responsibilities of Parent or Guardian

1. Complete the Questionnaire and return to JOMP, along with the JOMP registration form.

2. Make certain that your child is transported to all rehearsals and performances on time.

3. All absences must be called in to the JOMP office.

4. Oversee conditions of instruments, accessories and books.

5. Encourage, but don't force, your child to play "mini performances" regularly.

6. Please wait quietly in the JOMP lobby while the children work uninterrupted in their classroom.

7. Check your email regularly for updated rehearsal and performance information.

8. Respond in a timely manner to up-coming performance invitations - if we don't have enough students, we can't perform.

9. Contact Myra or the JOMP Directors by phone or email rather than at rehearsals or performances if you would like to discuss your child's progress.

10. Please bring any concerns or questions to our attention as soon as possible - delaying communications also delays solutions.

Responsibilities of Child

1. Be ready to start each rehearsal on time.

2. Practice every day. Listen and tape what you play. Practice before a mirror for stage appearance.

3. Find a Fiddle 'buddy" to play with and catch up on missed material.

4. No plucking, talking or otherwise disrupting the rehearsal. When the teacher or other students are playing or talking in turn, pay attention.

5. Make good posture a priority.

6. If you are confused about something, raise your hand.

Director's Responsibilities

1. Work with JOMP to communicate performance information.

2. Be on time to all rehearsals and performances.

3. Make assignments clear and available to all students.

4. Bring any concerns or questions to the parent's attention as soon as possible.

5. Be available by appointment or email to answer any questions.
